Col de la Colombière, a stunning  Alpine climb. Famous in part, because the last brutal kilometres seem to be perpetually into a head wind.

We took this torture as our inspiration for a  jacket that will protect the rider from the fiercest elements.  We wanted to produce an advanced garment, made from the finest fabrics.  This Deep Winter jacket is our second production jacket of the Colombière. For 2016 we have followed customer feedback and have lowered the tail, refined the diaphragm cut and added a zip toggle to work better with gloved hands.

MISSION

Our Marketing people say: To COMPLETELY stop the wind from stripping heat from your body during training using the best fabrics and design.

We say:  To Keep you warm on Winter, frosty mornings

Effective protection from  below zero to 10Degrees Celcius.  (The jacket has too much thermal insulation to be worm over 10 degrees. )

Four of the front facing panels and the arms are made from Shield Pro® . These are the next generation of technical outwear, but without the stiffness and noise of other shells. The outer layer protects against the worst weather conditions and delivers  breathability, abrasion resistance, whilst blocking 100% of the wind.  At the back of the jacket, the centre rear panel is made form 4 way stretch Super Roubaix® , this enhances the thermal regulation of the overall jacket. The jacket also uses Super Roubaix® at the front below the chest. Our diaphragm cut offers taylored fit and to prevent bunching in the cycling position, we believe the Colombière is your perfect training partner.  A high neck and extended cuffs seal the rider ergonomically into warmth.

Awesome jacket, needs the worst of weather but is getting it here in the Scottish highlands for last 6 weeks! Looking forward to a comfortable winter on the bike. Would love if a brighter colour or more viz could be added – I’d buy a second!

Wore my new Colombière jacket out for a spin this weekend and wow! totally amazed at how well it fits, how comfy and warm it is yet not bulky at all. Well worth it’s price tag . Dont waste your money on overpriced big brands – buy this! Build quality, fabric, design, fit, everything is spot on.

Essential for this time of year. Keeps you warm from the cold and wind while excellent breathable back panel. Highly recommended

This is the best £77 I have spend on anything cycling. Really love the design and have been shouting about the performance at coffee stops. Yeha

It’s a bit corny, but – I thought I was going to have to spend a lot more for a decent jacket. Read some reviews and ended up buying both this Colombiere as well as the Tourmalet rain jacket. Very pleased with both jackets & the immediate Q&A responses from the Galibier team whilst making the purchase. Well done all.

Used in all types of weather this winter – mild, cold, cold and wet, drizzle, heavy rain snow & sleet…sometimes supplemented by the Tourmalet jacket on top.
I agree that there could be a bit more reflective material..or even a red version would be great.

The material and the craftsmanship are as good if not better than 99% of items costing almost double, the service I have received from Galibier.cc is second to none…hence, still a 5* item.
    Definitely one to recommend.

Absolutely amazing jacket that can cope with the most miserable weather during the winter months. It’s kept me incredible warm when the temperature drops down to zero degrees.

The quality of the jacket is great as well. It feels like jackets of twice the price. Absolute bargain in my opinion.

Would definitely recommend this jacket for any cyclist who wants to keep cycling through Autumn/Winter in cold wet weather.

Great jacket. Very warm, wind proof, and very well designed. I would probably get the size up, Its a bit short in the arms and a bit tight at the neck when fully zipped up. Customer service is brilliant.

This is a seriously warm jacket, I have been wearing it on autumn days averaging 9 – 10 degrees with just a short sleeve cycle shirt and it is been more than enough. It does exactly what the description says.

A fantastic winter jacket at a great price.

I have owned the Colombiere for a number of months now, but have been waiting for the real winter weather to kick in, to enable me to give it a proper test. Over the last two weeks temperatures have dropped and the rain has set in, so a perfect time to challenge this bit of kit.

All I can say is Wow! Riding in sub zero conditions with only a short sleeve base layer underneath, the warmth of the Colombiere was more than a match for many similar higher priced jackets. In fact I found myself having to unzip the neck on the uphills, even when riding through -2 degrees!! Wind resistance of the materials used is excellent. It even has the ability to cope with varying degrees of rain shower, although not advertised as waterproof. The fit is spot on, I have the XL and am 5’11” at around 14 stone. It’s not ‘race-fit’ like some other brands, but with this item you want the ability to layer up underneath too.

My only worry with this item is that I’ll need to buy another in a smaller size when I shed more pounds. But I’m happy with that, as it will not be making a huge dent in my wallet!

To sum up – buy one, you won’t regret it!

Brilliant jacket, worn for the first time today.

Cold, damp, miserable and no mudguards but not only this this jacket keep me warm and dry but it washed a atreat and came up like brand new again.

This is the third item I’ve bought from Galibier and the value and quality is just incredible

  17. 5 out of 5

This is simply the best winter jacket I have used in years. Like other reviewers I find that combining it with a single short sleeve base layer keeps me toasty warm even when it’s sub zero. Excellent wind proofing and performs better than expected when it gets wet.

I am 5’6″, 57kg and the small fits great.

My only suggested improvement would be some other colour options.

  18. 5 out of 5

On a windy rainy January 1st 2016 this jacket kept me super cost without being bulky or uncomfortable. One of my best bits of cold-weather gear.

Other colours might be good. Then I could have 2 great jackets and still for less money than 1 other big brand comparisons.

I read the reviews on here after finding this brand and thought they’re so good and complimentary they can’t all be genuine but then I received the jacket. Like a lot of reviews say this jacket could easily be £150 or more and still feel good value.

The cut is short at the front to reduce bunching up and long in the arms so your wrists aren’t exposed. It’s warm, looks great and is such high quality. Makes you wonder how the “premium” manufacturers get away with charging hundreds of pounds for their waterproofs when this is a superior product in every way.

I hope Galibier extend their range and maintain the same quality and design as this is my go-to label for superb cycling gear.

  20. 5 out of 5

I have found this jacket fantastic, even when training at high intensity in harsh conditions it keeps me warm and the elements away whilst also being very breathable. ideal for when it gets really chilly and most often only 1 layer needs to be worn underneath. Fantastic piece of kit.

Outstanding. I just got this jacket. I have worn it twice, this morning at -11ºC with only a long sleeve merino base layer, and I was toasty the whole ride – about 20 miles. The quality is tremendous, the zip garage is comfortable, and my training partners said the mountain print on the back is highly reflective.

    I can’t recommend this enough.

I’ve found my new favorite kit provider.

  22. 5 out of 5

Worn this jacket from 1 degree to 8 degrees. Last week 2 hour ride in 1 degree temperature, after 10 mins started to sleet and then snow and continued for the 2 hours. Kept toasty warm and dry for the whole ride and just with a long sleeved base layer underneath. Great jacket for temperature up to 10 degrees with just a base layer. Excellent breathability and race cut fit and gives good protection in the wet. Can’t think of any weather being too cold for this jacket. When wife first saw the jacket she commented on the excellent quality of the jacket, knowing my wife that’s the best compliment I can pay this jacket. If you cycle in the winter cold this is the jacket you need.

Superb jacket. I bought this a few weeks ago and have had several rides in the cool/cold January weather now. With just one Galibier base layer (another great product) under the jacket, I felt perfectly warm and comfortable at around 3-4C (coldest it’s been recently). The XL fit is spot on for this 56 year old 187 cm 87 kg mamil! The ‘feel’ of the jacket is top class, and the attention to detail is superb. I haven’t tried it in much rain yet – only a 30 minute shower – but is worked as well as expected. I am totally delighted with my Colombière Winter jacket. Chapeau Galibier!

Fantastic is the only word needed. Fits close and yet so unnoticeable when on the bike, especially when on the drops. Neck is a great seal yet the zip never pokes in. Shoulders have ample room for movement and the arms are long enough to cover gloves. Waist is very comfortable with the perfect cut for a gut! The pockets are deep but with a good seal at the top, aided no doubt by the well placed silicone band. The drop tail also covers enough ass to get me a job at Stormont and the reflective finishing including the logo, make a black top highly visible.
Designed to keep the windchill out and it does exactly that, so much so that I can wear just a base layer underneath on a cold day. Worn this on 3deg Norfolk rides with Scandinavian easterly winds dropping the windchill down to below minus, just a merino long sleeve top underneath and the Tempest gloves and Ive been so comfortable even if stopping to assist with punctures.
Couldn’t recommend a cold weather, light shower jacket/jersey any better than this one regardless on the cost.

Wore this jacket for the first time 15 Nov 2016, with a temp of 8 degrees a bitter cold 13mph westerly wind with only a merino base layer on.

10 miles into a 60 mile ride I had to take the base layer off as I was over heating “Cooking”. I continued with rest of the journey with just the jacket on, and even then I found it to be far to warm. Maybe its just me, but the jacket could be doing with some side vents for breathing.

(The jacket has far too much thermal insulation) Personally I would not recommend a merino base layer with this jacket 8 degrees +.

This is the warmest cycling jacket I’ve ever worn and the hottest I’ve ever been on a ride, “very uncomfortable” an energy sapping.

Would definately recommend for a deep winter jacket, but would wait until it really gets cold before wearing again.

5 Stars for Thermal warmth but could only give 2 stars for breathability, Sorry

It’s my second winter with this jacket and it is indeed very warm!
went out for a 60k spin this morning with temperatures between -2° and 1°. I wore 1 long sleeve and one short sleeve base layer and felt really warm, even started sweating. The rear pannel vents really well, but maybe zipped side vents might make it more adjustable when things get too hot. Just don’t overdress. It is top quality and I would recommend it to anyone.
I am 183cm at 71kg and size L fits perfectly.

I’ve bought this jacket a few weeks ago, but I only got to test it in winter conditions(0 degrees ) the last days. I absolutely love it. With just a first layer under it, it kept me warm and protected from the wind. I strongly recommend it.
I’m 1.73m and 67Kgs and an S size fits me perfectly.

The jacket is really nice, fits well, seems great value for money and is super warm. However, after a number of rides I’m finding that I can’t wear this jacket on fast rides, rides above 5 degrees or rides with hills, as the arms are really not breathable at all. My base layer will be soaked after an hour of riding. My arms get a bit cold and there’s a horrid chill. Even my my full on waterproof jacket seems to breath better.

I purchased this jacket between Xmas and new year thinking I would have to wait a while for delivery, “not the case” turned up the next day also included a FOC neck warmer (thanks). First thing of note is the fit and build quality, I’m really impressed, my current jacket which will be referred to as the “SG C&C” was double the price and after doing a years work looks very shabby indeed, yes my SG is pretty waterproof however the Colombiere is not marketed as being water proof, on all other counts I much prefer my new jacket. The fit is lovely with the tail folding around nicely to keep me warm, pretty dry and clean, the neck is about perfect height wise and is fleece lined which should last well and keep in the warmth, the zips are really strong and look very robust, the finish of the jacket is up there with the best and I’ve owned quite a few over the last 45 years (i’m 59), I’m 5 10″ weigh 11 st 11 lbs, 40 chest and 33 waist and the Large is great, could have perhaps squeezed into a M but what’s the point as the fit is so good and I’ve room for a heavy base layer, I was out yesterday (7th) and did 50 miles in the fog/mist with a temp range of 2.2’C – 4’C, single light Merino base and I was certainly warm enough, in fact the zip was lowered on the climbing sections, there was certainly much less damp within the jacket so it breathes better than my old kit, all in all well pleased, the quality is a surprise for the minor outlay, and it looks good !!

Lucky me. I won this in a competition. It has rekindled my enjoyment of riding in the winter. I have previously found winter clothing stuffy and uncomfortable but this is a revelation. It is comfortable and the arms are long enough to ride on the drops without the arms riding up. I used it on a day which was 5c with a long sleeved Galibier merino base layer and I was warm, perhaps too warm.

I am 1.80m tall 73kg and 100cm in the chest and the large fitted well over a baselayer.

Decent Jacket at a great price point. Could do with being more visible in daylight, the reflectives on the back help at night. The rear pockets have to be the smallest (and tightest to get in to) of any Jacket or Jersey I own and this is the main reason I do not wear it more often.
That aside it is a quality, well made jacket. Very thinly padded which is deceptive as it is quite warm despite the lack of bulk to it, with a good race cut.

And a biting east wind,i was warm and comfortable during the ride, great cut and sleeve length,5’10 80kg and the large fits perfectly, super jacket at a great price, delivered in 2 days even threw me in a free neck buff!

Wow. Just wow. Merino vest and this, and I was sweating in around zero celcius with a stiff headwind. And even when we rode into the misty drizzle, I was still warm and happy.

The only complaint was that the pockets are so deep it’s difficult to get my snacks out with thick gloves on.

I’ve owned this for ankh 2 months now and have worn it in-5 +10 and never felt uncomfortable. It’s a great fit at the waist and arms. It has held out three rain for over 3 hours and you never feel to hot while roding.
Toggle on the zip is a real plus when you’ve winter gloves on.
